OUR PROCESS

At Hesta, we prioritize comfort, fit, and style without sacrifice.

In the majority of ready-to-wear fashion, clothes are made from idealized measurements and sized up using outdated mathematical formulae. This has little to do with real bodies, and inevitably results in someone of a larger size wearing something that doesn’t look like it was designed for them— because it wasn’t.

Our philosophy of apparel design is completely different. We reject the idea of fast fashion, and promote meticulously made, quality clothing that can be repaired and worn year after year. We truly believe that we are the future of fashion, and that the care for the customer should be the goal of all clothing brands.

In the interest of this goal, we go through multiple individual and extremely exhaustive processes to make sure your clothes fit YOU as well as possible. We have a very small team, and we’re passionate about what we do.

Each garment goes through a series of multiple fittings per size offered, on real human beings. Hester drafts patterns over and over again, making minute changes so that we can be as sure as possible that you are getting the best fit imaginable. Our blood, sweat, and tears go into each piece (we promise they won’t stain! ;) ), and by the time it gets to you it is as close to perfection as we can possibly make it.

We source USA-made fabrics and materials, and our clothes are ethically made right here in Brooklyn. In an industry of excess, we’re passionate about sustainability. We cut all of our clothes from one piece of fabric for minimal waste, and avoid over-production by keeping numbers low. We to use every last piece of material— down to the scraps!— and our punk rock jewelry is made with vintage findings that are one-of-a-kind; just like you.
